Overview and experience

John A. Ajayi, Esq.

failure is not an option

Born in Fresno, California, and raised in both Fresno, California, and Lagos, Nigeria, Mr. Ajayi was encouraged by his parents to hold himself to high standards, pursue his goals with determination and passion, and to always strive for excellence in all of his endeavors. 

Mr. Ajayi attended California State University, Fullerton for his undergraduate studies where he earned his bachelor’s degree in musical theater. After graduating, Mr. Ajayi was hired as a file clerk in a workers’ compensation defense firm. He then worked his way up the ranks; obtained his paralegal certification from Fullerton City College; became a hearing representative with the firm; and obtained his Official Medical Fee Schedule bill review certification from WorkComp Central.

After ten (10) years of litigating liens, litigating case-in-chief issues, and drafting various original pleadings before the WCAB district offices, Mr. Ajayi matriculated to Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California and continued working full-time as a hearing representative while carrying a full course load at school.

Prior to graduating in the top of his class at Trinity Law School, Mr. Ajayi amassed several academic achievement awards including American Jurisprudence Awards for academic excellence in Legal Research & Writing, Criminal Procedure, Federal and California Rules of Evidence, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, and International Human Rights Law. Mr. Ajayi also won the Golden Quill Award for outstanding appellate brief and was the only student from the United States of America in the summer of 2017 to successfully earn the certificate of achievement at the Rene Cassin Center for International Human Rights program in Strasbourg, France in the subject of Bioethics and International Human Rights.

While at Trinity Law School, Mr. Ajayi also found the time to participate in the school’s Law Review, and work in the school’s pro bono Mobile Legal Clinic, Tax Clinic, and Bankruptcy Clinic.

After three (3) consecutive years of attending Trinity Law School, Mr. Ajayi studied and prepared for the California State Bar exam in the summer of 2018 which he passed on his first try. Mr. Ajayi was then immediately hired as an associate attorney at Finete Law, A PLC, under the tutelage of the now Honorable, James P. Finete.

After approximately 18 years of working in all law firm facets in the field of California Workers’ Compensation Law, Mr. Ajayi established Ajayi Law Group in order to continue his endeavors with his vision, working as an avid legal advocate for employers, insurance companies, and third-party administrators.

Ian D. McLean, Esq. Of Counsel

Prior to practicing law as an attorney, Mr. McLean worked with his father in the custom home building business in Southern California. He also worked in law enforcement and served in the United States Army. In the middle of his law career, he took a break and ended up teaching philosophy, theology, and English at The Jesuit Provence Curia in Thu Duc, Vietnam where he met his wife of 16 years and counting. They have four children together. 

Mr. McLean attended Western State University, School of Law and passed the California State Bar examination in 1991. Since passing the Bar Exam, he has been practicing California Workers’ Compensation Law for over 30 years. Prior to that, he attended California State University, Fullerton, and Trinity College at Cambridge University, and the University of London. 

Mr. McLean initially began his workers’ compensation career working for State Compensation Insurance Fund as a defense attorney. He then transitioned to working as an Applicant’s attorney for several years representing injured workers. He was then hired by a Michigan firm as their California attorney for several large global construction companies which exposed him to many complicated insurance issues involving a multitude of corporate structures. 

Subsequently, Mr. McLean practiced with Mullen & Filippi in the Bay area working predominantly with self-insured entities, and hands on employers with high deductible insurance policies. During that time, he also presented at State Bar Conventions in Berkeley, California.

Mr. McLean eventually moved back to Southern California to work for a firm that specializes in representing the California Insurance Association. Thereafter, he worked alongside Mr. Ajayi as a defense attorney at Savage Finete specializing in Workers’ Compensation insurance defense.

George Fogy, Esq., Of Counsel

George Fogy was born and raised in Central-Eastern Europe, immigrating to the United States in 1985. He ran several businesses  before deciding to become a lawyer in 1999.  He graduated from Hastings Law School in 1994 and has worked in the workers compensation field for over 23 years. Mr. Fogy takes pride in his bold and fearless approach to his clients’ goals both in and outside the  courtroom.
